András Jóri obtained his law degree at Eötvös Loránd University, Faculty of Law, Budapest; he is also a certified system administrator. Between 1997 and 2001 he was a staff member of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Data Protection, responsible for drafting the recommendations of the commissioner dealing with the financial sector and data processing activities carried out on the Internet.

Since 2000 he has been a member of the legal advisory board of the Council of Hungarian Internet Providers, responsible for the regulation of domain name delegation process under the .hu top level domain. Since 2001 he has been an attorney and a member of Budapest Bar Association, advising his multinational and domestic clients on data protection law and goverment agencies on regulation issues concerning data protection, freedom of information (and the reuse of PSI), electronic commerce and electronic signatures.

András Jóri is the author of numerous articles on data protection and IT law; in 2005, he published his Data Protection Handbook (the first commentary of the Hungarian Data Protection Act, the chapter on history and theory of data protection is read by Dr. László Majtényi, former data protection commissioner; recommendation blurb by Dr. Attila Péterfalvi, data protection commissioner).

Apart from law, his interests include literature and architecture, especially early modern architecture and the Bauhaus movement. He resides in Budapest with his wife Zita (an attorney herself) and their Irish setter, Johnny.
